The Man Behind The Music
Mehmood Curmally’s journey with Elvis began at home. His father, who ran Mumbai’s renowned record store, Rhythm House, introduced him to the King’s music. But the true impact hit one rainy August morning when his father, with tears in his eyes, shared the news that Elvis was no more.
The inspiration was solidified by the film Elvis: That’s The Way It Is, a documentary of his legendary 1970 Las Vegas concerts. Mehmood watched it eight times, mesmerized by the musical genius and commanding stage presence of the man.
As his own passion for singing grew, Mehmood knew he was called to perform the music of Elvis. He is not an impersonator; he is an Elvis Tribute Artist (ETA), paying deep respect to the legend without ever trying to copy him. He channels the spirit of Elvis to give audiences a taste of what an authentic Elvis show felt like—a performance designed to entertain and make people happy.
As Mehmood says, “It’s like a calling. I love the man so much. If I can give audiences just one little glimpse of the power of Elvis on stage, that would make me the happiest.
